STANFORD, Calif. -- Lisa Anderberg didn't just pick up on Saturday where she'd left off last season.

She picked up a whole lot faster.

The Seattle Pacific senior broke into the 2:10s in the 800 meters for the first time in her career, logging a 2:10.98 for an NCAA Division II provisional qualifying time in the Stanford Track & Field Invitational.

Anderberg (Edmonds, Wash./Kamiak HS) was second in her section of that race and 22nd overall. Her previous career best in the 800 was 2:11.35 as a sophomore in 2008. Last year, working her way back from a hip flexor injury, her fastest time was 2:14.57.

During this winter's indoor season, Anderberg set an indoor career best of 2:12.71 in the SPU Last Chance Meet on Feb. 27, which was an NCAA provisional qualifying time.

For the NCAAs, Anderberg focused on running the 800-meter leg on the Falcons' 4,000-meter distance medley relay team. That decision reaped big rewards, as Seattle Pacific won the Division II title in that race on March 12 in Albuquerque.

Anderberg's time on Saturday makes her an automatic qualifier for the Great Northwest Athletic Conference championships on May 14-15 at Western Oregon University in Monmouth. And, it leaves her less than a second away from the NCAA automatic qualifying time of 2:10.00.

SPU freshman Amanda Alvarez (Vancouver, Wash./Columbia River HS) placed seventh in the triple jump on Saturday at 38 feet, 4¼ inches. Junior Melissa Peaslee (Fox Island, Wash./Gig Harbor HS) was 13th in the pole vault at 11-9¾.

Freshman Nate Seely competed in the men's 800 meters, finishing 47th in 1:57.93.
