SEATTLE – Will Harrison is now a perfect 3 for 3 – as in three races during the current indoor track and field, season, three school records.
 
The Seattle Pacific senior distance runner broke his own standard in the 3,000 meters on Sunday afternoon, clocking a time of 8 minutes, 30,32 seconds in the UW Indoor Open.
 
The time by Harrison (Tucson, Ariz.) at Dempsey Indoor on the University of Washington campus took down his own mark of 8:36.81, set at the season-opening UW Indoor Preview on Jan. 12. Prior to that, the old record of 8:42.33, set by Nathanael Castle, had stood since 2002.
 
Sunday's performance was good for ninth place overall and brought Harrison closer to the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying standard of 8:28.00. He'll have another chance at it this coming weekend at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships in Nampa, Idaho.
 
Aside from his pair of 3Ks, Harrison's other race this winter was in the 5,000 meters at the UW Invitational on Jan. 25. On that night, he stopped the watch in 15 minutes, 0.96 seconds to wipe out the old Seattle Pacific record of 15:11.66, set in January 2012 by Jordan Wolfe.
 
The GNAC meet is this coming Friday and Saturday at Jackson's Track in Nampa, Idaho.
