No. 11-ranked Coyotes take down Metro State in Falcon-Wildcat Invitational

SEATTLE – Hailey Jackson had nine kills, three blocks, and hit .500 on Wednesday, helping No. 11-ranked Cal State San Bernardino sweep past Metro State of Denver in the season-opening match at the Falcon-Wildcat Invitational volleyball tournament.
 
Scores in Seattle Pacific University's Brougham Pavilion were 25-18, 25-17, 25-22.
 
The Coyotes (1-0) got eight kills apiece from Asia Clarke and Sascha Dominique. In addition, Dominique recorded three total blocks.
 
Senior setter Jayann DeHoog had a double-double of 28 assists and 12 digs.
 
Jackson, a 6-foot-3 senior middle blocker earned her .500 hitting percentage with ;just one error on 16 attacks.
 
Metro State (0-1) was led by the nine kills of senior outside hitter Santaisha Sturges. Taylor Duryea, another senior outside, added eight. Senior middle Stephanie Laraway had five block assists and one solo.
 
CSSB plays two matches on Friday at SPU, facing Fresno Pacific at 3:00 p.m. and the host Falcons at 7:30 p.m.
 
Metro heads across the Cascade mountain to Ellensburg, where it will take on host Central Washington at 6:30 p.m on Friday.
