SEATTLE (Oct. 19) Jeff Coggan scored in the 70th minute to even the score as the Seattle Pacific University men's soccer team battled Western Washington to a 1-1 draw in Great Northwest Athletic Conference action Friday night at Interbay Stadium.

The Falcons tied for the sixth time this season and are now 7-3-6 overall and 1-1-2 in the GNAC.  It was just the first tie of the year for the Vikings (11-5-1, 2-2-1).

Western struck first Friday when Samir Vejo bent a 22-yard free kick over the Falcon wall and into the upper left corner.

Coggan drew the Falcons level in the 70th minute after a Falcon corner.  Jeff Hallenbeck crossed the ball to the back post to Drew Macha who knocked it back across the goal.  Coggan then turned and ripped a shot into the net from 8 yards out.

The Falcons thought they had won the match with just seconds remaining but Matt Kemper was called offsides as he slotted the ball into the net and the game ended in a draw.

The match was a physical contest with a total of 45 fouls (24 on SPU, 21 on Western) and four yellow cards whistled on the night.

Both keepers were busy throughout the match as SPU and Western totaled 13 and 19 shots respectively.  Michael Lockwood made nine saves for the Vikings while Kellen Rosten totaled six for SPU.
