Compliance


The mission of the athletic compliance office of Seattle Pacific University is to assist students, coaches, faculty, and staff with fulfilling the Engage the Culture, Change the World mission of Seattle Pacific University and SPU Athletics while operating within institutional, conference and NCAA compliance guidelines. In addition to ensuring that all of its Coaches, Administrators, University Faculty and Staff, and Student-Athletes are aware of and following the applicable rules, SPU is also responsible for educating individuals who are representatives of athletics interests. Compliance with these rules and regulations requires the effort of everyone associated with an institution's athletics program and requires a shared responsibility for the education of and compliance with national, conference and University policies and procedures.

This webpage is not a comprehensive list of NCAA rules. It is only meant as a guide for some of the more common questions and issues. Many of the rules contained here impact the eligibility of both SPU student-athletes and recruits. Following these rules helps protect their eligibility and the integrity of the athletic department.

If you have questions about NCAA rules, please contact Compliance Office (206-281-2973 or barberk2@spu.edu), before taking part in an activity that could jeopardize the SPU Athletic Department and/or a SPU Student-Athlete's participation in intercollegiate athletics.

Report a Violation
Seattle Pacific University is committed to compliance with NCAA and conference rules. Seattle Pacific's compliance office will provide attention to all potential violations regardless of severity or significance. Lack of knowledge or attention to the rules and regulations set forth by the NCAA and our conferences is unacceptable and is not a tolerable explanation for a violation.

Failure to report a violation further compounds the severity of the violation and thus makes it important for violations to be reported immediately. Student-athletes, coaches, staff members or any member of the general public may confidentially report violations to the compliance office.
