SEATTLE (Oct. 5) – Sarah Martinez became the top career goalscorer in Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer history Friday night as No. 3-ranked Seattle Pacific University remained perfect on the season with a 3-0 win over Northwest Nazarene at Interbay Stadium.

Jocelyn Charette and Meredith Teague scored the other goals for the Falcons (7-0-0/13-0-0), who were opening a three-game home stand against the Crusaders (3-4-0/6-5-1).

Martinez scored the 46th goal of her career and the 14th this fall at 65:43. She is now within one point of Shannon Lovejoy's school and GNAC career total points record of 111.

Charette opened match scoring in the 25th minute when she won a footrace with NNU keeper Amanda Peters to a Shannon Oakes through ball. Charette beat Peters' dive toward the ball, cut back, and scored to an open net. It was her fourth goal in six games.

The Falcons turned a possession-oriented first-half tempo into an aggressive offensive attack in the second half. After twice being denied by Peters, Teague converted her own rebound for a 2-0 lead in the 49th minute.

Janae Godoy assisted on the Martinez goal. Going into the game, Martinez had been tied with former Seattle University star Nichole Sauvageau with 45 career goals.

Peters made a total of six saves and SPU keeper Jesslyn Rahm had two to earn the shutout.

Seattle Pacific out-shot the visitors 16-4 and also finished with a 6-1 edge in corners.

The Falcons host Western Oregon on Wednesday night at 7.
