SEATTLE (Sept. 15) – Alyssa Given served back-to-back aces to close-out the match as Seattle Pacific University took down Great Northwest Athletic Conference co-leaders Northwest Nazarene in a volleyball match Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Given (Sr., Salinas, Ca.) got four of her match leading 19 kills in the decisive fifth game for the Falcons (2-1, 7-4), who handed the Crusaders (2-1, 8-3) their first GNAC loss, 28-30, 30-23, 30-23, 26-30, 15-9.

Given also led the way for SPU in service aces, collecting seven over the match. As a team, the Falcons out-aced the Crusaders 16-9. That's two shy of the team record.

Angie Wodrich (Sr., Richland, Wa.) hit 16 kills in the match and had a team-leading 21 digs. Teammate Alexa Vondrak (So., Gresham, Or.) also passed the double digit mark with 10 kills, while hitting at a .308 clip.

Cammy Dranginis led the charge for the Crusaders with 16 kills on a match leading .464 clip.

As a team, NNU out hit SPU .142 to .128, but the fifth game proved to be the Crusaders' Achilles heel, when SPU out hit them .211 to -.077.

The Falcons resume play Thursday at league-leading Western Oregon.
