SEATTLE (Sept. 26) –  Jason Le scored in the first half as UC San Diego dealt 6th-ranked Seattle Pacific University it's first men's soccer loss, 1-0, at Interbay Stadium Wednesday night.

The game was the Tritons('2-6-1) first under interim coach Paul Holohan, who replaced the retired Derek Armstrong Monday. UCSD had entered the game on a four-game losing streak.

Le scored his fourth goal of the season in the 18th minute from 8 yards after Tony Choi had dribbled through the defense along the right endline.

Although Seattle Pacific (4-1-5) finished with a 10-2 edge in corner kicks, the offense could not generate a clear scoring chance until the 86th minute. A long throw by Colin Kosco was flicked into the goalmouth, but James Coggan's sliding6-yard attempt flashed wide left.

None of Joshua Vasquez' three saves were difficult in posting the shutout. Apart from the goal, SPU keeper Kellen Rosten was not seriously threatened in his four credited saves.

The Falcons, who had tied their previous four outings, are now winless in five games. It is the longest such run since 1970.

SPU travels to Cal State Dominguez Hills Saturday night.

Scoring: 1, UCSD, Le (Choi) 17:51.
