SEATTLE (Sept. 29) – Alyssa Given smashed two of her team high 24 kills in the decisive fifth game as Seattle Pacific University rallied to defeat Alaska Fairbanks in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference volleyball match Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

Given broke Leilani Kamahoahoa's mark for career kills at during the third game, as she led the Falcons (4-3, 9-6) past the Nanooks (1-5, 7-7) in five games by scores of 30-21, 28-30, 30-32, 30-23, 16-14.

Angie Wodrich boosted her career high kills mark for the second straight game, cracking 20 on a .286 hitting percentage. Torii Mount had five service aces and 27 digs in the match.

Down two games to one, SPU got an added boost from Nikki Finley, who struck down three of her five kills including the game four winner.

SPU roared out to a 7-2 lead to start the fifth game, but fell behind 12-9 after 7-1 Nanook run. Tied at 14, the Nanooks committed back-to-back attacking errors in match's final two points.

Seattle Pacific's Joelle Perez had a match high 61 assists while Robin De Jong added seven kills and four blocks on a .583 clip.

Megan Thigpen led the way for UAF with 24 kills and 19 digs.

Given has set two major career records this month. Earlier she set a new mark for service aces.

The Falcons play their next three on the road, beginning Thursday at Central Washington.
