SEATTLE, Wa (Sept. 8) – Three different Falcons scored goals as 10th-ranked Seattle Pacific University opened a three-game home stand with a 3-0 win over Notre Dame de Namur  in a non-conference women's soccer game Saturday afternoon at Interbay Stadium.

The victory bumped Seattle Pacific to a perfect 6-0-0 while the Argonauts dropped to 1-4-1.

Sarah Martinez (Sr., Bothell, Wa./Cedar Park Christian) opened match, scoring straight away in the second minute when she took a feed from Shannon Oakes (Jr., Boise, Id.) at the top of the penalty box. Kayla Stiegemeier (So., Rathdrum, Id./Lakeland), who began the play with a run down the left channel of the attacking third, was credited with an assist.

Martinez' strike beat starting Argos keeper Allie Howarth to the right post. It was her eighth goal and all have come at home.

Martinez later left the game with an ankle injury with 16 minutes remaining in the first half and did not return.

The Falcons made it 2-0 inside of 11 minutes. Becca Woods (Fr., Beaverton, Or.) nodded a Meredith Teague (Jr., Redmond, Wa./Bellevue Christian) corner-kick to the upper right corner at 10:40.

Just 30 seconds after halftime, SPU struck again. Stiegemeier crossed to Mallorie Gerstmann (Fr., Puyallup, Wa./Cascade Christian), who notched her first collegiate goal.

Notre Dame de Namur's best scoring chances came off a couple of back-to-back attempts  by Catherine Ponce.  The midfielder ripped a pair of long-distance hits from the top of the penalty box. SPU keeper Jesslyn Rahm (So., Eugene, Or./South Eugene)  saved both.

Ponce's shots represented Rahm's save total in the contest; she left the game in the hands of Maddie Dickinson (Fr., Vancouver, Wa./Skyview) with 19 minutes remaining. Howorth had one save in 17 minutes of play. Substutute Christina Dito gathered in five.

The Falcons held an 18-3 shot advantage and 11-0 in corner kicks. It was their second straight shutout and fourth in six games.
