SEATTLE (Feb. 9) – Michael Wright and Chris Gweth each poured in 15 points as Seattle U rallied from a 10-point second half deficit to beat Seattle Pacific 66-59 in GNAC men's basketball action Saturday night at Brougham Pavilion.

SU (6-5, 13-7) extracted some revenge for a 56-52 home loss to the Falcons (9-4, 15-5) earlier this season, winning for the first time in Brougham since February 8, 1992.

SPU looked to be pulling away midway though the second half.  Marques Echols hit back-to-back-to-back three pointers as part of a 12-3 run giving the Falcons a 48-38 lead with 11:09 remaining.

But Wright brought the Redhawks back, scoring six points during an 18-3 scoring spurt.  Gweth capped off the rally by draining a jumper with 2:22 left to put SU up 59-53.

Echols hit his fourth three to bring the Falcons within three at 59-56 with 1:34 to go.  But SU was able to hit 7 of 10 free throws down the stretch to seal the win.

SU had no answer for Rob Will in the opening half as the SPU center hit all four of his shots and 4 of 6 free-throws for 12 points, giving the Falcons a 31-29 lead at the break.  The Redhawks were able to corral Will in the second half, allowing him to take just two shots from the floor and finish with 17 points.

With the loss, the Falcons drop into third place in the GNAC standings.

Echols finished with 16 points for SPU while teammate JoJay Jackson just missed a double-double with 9 points and 10 rebounds.  He also chipped in team-highs of four assists and three steals.

Ricky Berry added 14 points off the bench for SU, hitting three of four shots from long distance.  Wright grabbed 10 rebounds to go along with his 15 points.

SPU plays just once next weekend, concluding their three-game home stand Saturday night against Northwest Nazarene.  Tip-off is set for 7:00pm.
