NAMPA, Idaho -- Senior forward Megan Hoisington posted her second double-double of the season, getting 12 points and 10 rebounds on Saturday afternoon, and Julie van Beek earned her 100th Seattle Pacific women's basketball coaching victory as the Falcons downed Dixie State in their final game of the GNAC-Pac West Classic, 59-46.

Megan Hoisington shoots in traffic against Colorado Christian.
Hoisington (Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap HS), who was named to the all-tournament team, was one of four players in double-figure scoring for the 14th-ranked Falcons (4-1), who bounced back from Friday's 69-55 loss to Grand Canyon in opening game of the tournament hosted by Northwest Nazarene.

Junior center Melissa Reich (Bothell, Wash./Bellevue Christian HS) added 12 points and six rebounds, senior guard Daesha Henderson (Snohomish, Wash./Snohomish HS) had 10 points, five rebounds and two assists, and sophomore guard Jordan Harazin (Colfax, Wash./Colfax HS) had 10 points and six boards.

Van Beek, now in her fifth year at the helm, has a 100-22 record with the Falcons, and is 262-141 for her career. That includes nine years at Trevecca Nazarene in Nashville, Tenn., prior to her coming to Seattle Pacific in 2005. Her 100th SPU win came on the NNU campus where she played her college basketball.

Hoisington's all-tourney selection was her second of the season. She also was on five-player squad for the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic at Seattle Pacific on Nov. 20-21 when the Falcons swept Colorado Christian and Humboldt State.

Seattle Pacific scored the first seven points of the game and never trailed against the Red Storm (2-4). The Falcons had a lead of as much as 21-8 midway through the first half, saw Dixie State (2-4) of St. George, Utah, get as close as six at 23-17, but took a 25-17 lead into halftime.

SPU then started the second half on a 15-3 tear, making it 40-20. Dixie State never got the margin back below double-digits the rest of the day.

The Falcons, who were hampered by 29 percent shooting from the field on Friday against Grand Canyon, improved significantly on Saturday, hitting 41.2 percent (21 of 51). They also had their best night of the season at the line, hitting 81.3 percent (13 of 16). SPU hadn't shot better than 61.9 percent from the line in any of its first four games of the season.

Seattle Pacific limited Dixie State to just 25.8 percent shooting from the floor (17 of 66).

The Red Storm had just one player in double figures, as Veronica Siquerios scored 10. Tanya Clark had eight of Dixie State's 43 rebounds. The Falcons wound up with 38 boards.

SPU will be off from competition next week for finals, but returns to the court in Royal Brougham Pavilion next Saturday, Dec. 12, for a nonconference game against Concordia of Portland at 7 p.m. That will be the final home game for the Falcons prior to the start of Great Northwest Athletic Conference play. Seattle Pacific conference home opener will be Thursday, Jan. 14, against Saint Martin's at 7 p.m.
