MONTANA STATE BILLINGS QUOTES
Coach Don Trentham
General Comments:
“We're trying to write some history for our program and the first part was getting into the NCAA Tournament. As I told the girls the other night, the next part was winning a game in the NCAA Tournament. So we're obviously excited for the program. It was a big win for us tonight. “
On goal scorer Amanda Brusic:
“I thought Amanda Brusic had a great game tonight. She was very active in the midfield, battled hard in there. She did a good job keeping the ball for us at times and won tackles and balls in the air. She just worked so hard. It was great to see her get a beautiful goal because she definitely earned it tonight.”
On Saturday's NCAA second-round game against West Region No. 1 seed Seattle Pacific, also a member of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference:
“We have a ton of respect for opponents in the GNAC and certainly even more for Seattle Pacific based on their history as a program. They are a great program and they have a lot of postseason history. It will be a great challenge for us to play them on their home turf, but we're definitely excited to be moving on.”
Junior midfielder Amanda Brusic
General Comments:
“It's so exciting. It was really such a team effort and we've wanted this since the get-go of the season. It's so nice to win coming in and my only thought was 'I want another chance at SPU.' I couldn't have done it without my teammates, so it's awesome.”
On the game-winning goal:
“The ball came out just a little outside the 18. I just shot it and it was like in slow-motion to the upper seven. It was awesome. I knew I was going to shoot it right away and just tried to put it on goal.”
On getting her first goal of the season in an NCAA Tournament game:
“That's the time to do it I guess. It was exciting.”
CAL STATE L.A. QUOTES
Coach Chris Chamides
General Comments:
“I thought we had a pretty good game. We had a couple good looks at the goal and it didn't fall for us. There've been a few times this year where we've outshot our opponent and not gotten a result. And that's always tough. Full credit to them, I thought they played a good game.”
On MSU Billings goalkeeper Sabrina Grandke-Bawab:
“Getting to this level, you're going to be good in the goal. Their keeper made one or two really nice saves. Have to give her credit for that.”
On what he knew about MSU Billings before the game:
“Never played them before, never seen them play. But we had a general feel for what their strengths were. That played out probably about right. Unfortunately, we didn't have a chance to get a goal. Not getting a goal this time of the year, you don't advance.”
