EUGENE, Ore. – Seattle Pacific seniors Jessica Pixler and Lisa Anderberg each registered a runner-up performance in separate women's 800-meter races Saturday during the final day of the Oregon Relays at historic Hayward Field.

Pixler (Sammamish, Wash./Eastlake HS) was the top collegiate finisher in the elite section of the women's 800. She clocked a time of 2-minutes, 5.38-seconds that is the second swiftest in SPU history. Last Saturday, Pixler set a new school 800-meter record of 2:04.89 that eclipsed the previous standard of 2:06.6 established in 1977 by Susie Griffith.

The top-level 800-meter race was won by former Tennessee standout Sarah Bowman, who now represents New Balance. Her time of 2:04.00 is the fifth-fastest outdoor mark by an American this year. Pixler edged Lauren Hagans of asics (2:05.87) by 0.49 for second place.

The second section of the women's 800 was won in 2:12.01 by Eastern Oregon's Alma Garcilazo. She crossed the finish line less than half a second ahead of SPU's Anderberg (Edmonds, Wash./Kamiak HS), who posted a time of 2:12.46. Danielle Walker of Wichita State was third in 2:12.93.

Anderberg did not improve her high NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 2:10.98 that is within one second of the automatic standard of 2:10.00.

Falcons junior Melissa Peaslee (Fox Island, Wash./Gig Harbor HS) cleared 11-feet, 6 ½-inches to place 10th in the women's pole vault. Peaslee reached that height on her third try before missing three attempts at 12-0 ½.

She already has an NCAA provisional qualifying mark of 12-5 ½ in the books, a school-record height she vaulted last week at the Mt. Sac Relays in Walnut, Calif.

Peaslee's coach, SPU assistant Carly Dockendorf, tried to lead by example. Dockendorf competed unattached and won the Oregon Relays pole vault title with a vault of 14-1 ¼. Dockendorf is a former two-sport star at Washington, competing as a gymnast and pole vaulter for the Huskies.

The rest of the SPU track team is in Lacey, Wash. today to inaugurate a new track and field complex at the Saint Martin's Invitational.

Several Falcons will compete Monday and Tuesday at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Multi-Event Championships in Nampa, Idaho. Next Saturday, May 8, SPU hosts the Ken Foreman Invitational at Husky Stadium.
