SEATTLE -- Alex Dunn (West Valley City, UT/Hunter HS) and Stacey Albrecht (Federal Way/ Thomas Jefferson HS) both had double-doubles as the Central Washington University women's basketball team won their season-opener against Harding University 88-68 Friday afternoon at the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic at Brougham Pavilion on the campus of Seattle Pacific University.

The Wildcats built a 27 point halftime advantage shooting 48.5 percent (16 of 33) from the field while holding the Bison to 20.6 percent (7 of 34) in the opening period.  Central used a 25-3 run in the half to build its 48-21 lead going into intermission.

The Bison offense erupted in the second half to score 47 points on 47.1 percent shooting including 5 of 13 from three point territory, but were unable to contain the Wildcat that continued their hot shooting in the second stanza where they shot 56 percent to finished with the final 88-68 victory.

Albrecht finished with 15 points 10 rebounds on 6 of 7 shooting, while Dunn had 13 points, 10 rebounds and led the Wildcats with six assists.  Central totaled four players in double-figures as Sophie Russell (Olympia/River Ridge HS) finished with a game-high 18 points and freshman Courtney Johnson (Kent/Kentwood HS) had 15.

In addition to its efficient field-goal shooting, Central was nearly perfect from the charity stripe where they missed just one of their 20 attempts from the free-throw line, outscoring the Bison by five points at the line.  Central had an advantage in most statistical categories with the exception of turnovers where Harding bettered the Wildcats 10-15.
