ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – It wasn't the outcome Melissa Peaslee had in mind.

The Seattle Pacific senior came up short on all three attempts at the opening height of 11 feet, 7 inches at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in the Albquerque Convention Center.

Peaslee (Fox Island, Wash./Gig Harbor HS), who finished ninth as a freshman and 13th as a sophomore, was aiming for a spot among the top eight finishers and an All-American honor. She came into the meet seeded eighth at a height of 12-2¾ (3.73 meters), which she hit on Feb. 26.

Friday's opening height proved tough all around as six of the 13 competitors were unable to clear it.

Lauren Stelten of Minnesota State and top-seeded Lauren Graham of UC Colorado Springs both made it over at 13-6½ (4.13 meters), but Stelten won the championship by clearing it in fewer attempts.

That concludes the indoor season for the Falcons. Seattle Pacific competes in its second outdoor meet of the season on Saturday at the Pacific Lutheran Invitational. The meet at the PLU track begins a 9 a.m.
