MONMOUTH, Ore. – Freshman Shayla Page scored in the 82nd minute for the Seattle Pacific women, but an own goal with four minutes remaining in regulation Thursday forced a 1-1 double-overtime tie in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference contest against Western Oregon at WOU Soccer Field.

The three-time defending league champion Falcons (5-2-2) had their GNAC record move to 2-1-2 with their second straight tie. They also played to a 1-1 draw Saturday at home versus Central Washington.

The Wolves (3-5-1), who stopped an 18-game losing streak in the series with SPU, improved to 1-3-1 in conference play.

Page (Redmond, Wash./Eastlake) found the goal for the second time in the last three outings. She headed a corner kick into the left side of the WOU goal at 81:36.

Sophomore defender Alexa Diaz (Burien, Wash./Kennedy) delivered the corner kick and was rewarded with her team-leading fourth assist.

“Her set piece service has been really dangerous and her teammates are certainly helping by getting on the end of those crosses,” SPU coach Chuck Sekyra said about Diaz.

The late lead was short-lived as the Wolves equalized on an own goal. An SPU defender tried to clear the ball out of the box, but instead sent it into her team's goal at 86:03.

The game remained tied at 1-1 through the final 3:57 of regulation and the two, 10-minute overtime periods.

Junior goalkeeper Natalie Harold (Vancouver, Wash./Heritage) compiled five saves for SPU, which was outshot by a slim 19-16 margin. Her counterpart, Hillary Lutz, stopped seven shots for the Wolves.

“We're making the game hard for ourselves. We need to try to get on the same page, to focus on the things that we did well,” Sekyra said about preparing for the next game. “We have a good team and a great group of women. We just have to make the game easier for each other.”

The Falcons return home to Interbay Stadium on Saturday at 7 p.m. to host Saint Martin's.
