BILLINGS, Mont. – What was Coach Chuck Sekyra's favorite part of Saturday's convincing women's soccer victory? Halftime.

Freshman Maddie Krauss scored two second-half goals 32 seconds apart Saturday, leading Seattle Pacific to a 3-0 Great Northwest Athletic Conference triumph over Montana State Billings at Yelllowjacket Field.

Sophomore Ashley Shaw (Seattle, Wash./Seattle Lutheran HS) gave SPU a 1-0 lead it would take into intermission. She sent a 30-yard blast into the top right corner at 22:41 for her second goal of the season.

"I have to be honest, that was one of the most enjoyable halftimes I've had in a long time," Sekyra said. "It was fun to talk to my team at halftime and say 'You guys are playing awesome, don't change anything. We're up 1-0, but we're going to be up more than this if we just keep playing our game.'"

The Falcons (10-4-0) heeded his advice and continued to dominate the action. More goals finally came as Krauss (Lake Oswego, Ore.) increased the margin with her first two collegiate scores. She converted a penalty kick at 79:55 with a low shot into the right side of the Yellowjackets goal.

Much like his brief halftime speech, selecting somebody to take the penalty kick was simple for Sekyra.

"I was on the field tending to my injured player and I turned around and asked 'Who wants it,'" he described. "Maddie Krauss said 'I got it' and she sure did with a beautiful shot on a PK."

At 80:27, freshman Hannah Huesers (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS) dribbled toward the right side of the box before delivering a pass to Krauss who finished into the lower left from 17 yards away.

Billings was limited to just two shots in each half while the Falcons compiled 16 attempts.

Senior goalkeeper Natalie Harold (Vancouver, Wash./Heritage HS) was credited with one save en route to her sixth shutout. SPU has blanked eight opponents this season.

Kaylee Kimmet made seven saves for the Yellowjackets (4-6-2), whose GNAC record fell to 3-6-1.

The Falcons completed a sweep of their two-game road trip and improved to 7-3-0 in league play. They defeated Northwest Nazarene 2-1 on Thursday.

"This team showed who they are with these two road wins. We played a really good first half at Nazarene and then kind of took our foot off the gas and got away from who we are," said Sekyra. "Today my big message before the game was to play 90 minutes of our game, our style.

"Hands down, that's the best game we've ever played at Billings, Montana in the history of my time as a coach at Seattle Pacific University."

SPU, which won this year's first meeting 2-1 on Sept. 26 in Seattle, swept the season series from the Yellowjackets.

The Falcons play three of their final four regular-season games at home, beginning on Thursday at 7 p.m. against Saint Martin's in Interbay Stadium.
