BURNABY, B.C. – Freshman Hannah Huesers opened the scoring and assisted on the final goal Saturday as 23rd-ranked Seattle Pacific rebounded from its first Great Northwest Athletic Conference setback with a 3-0 women's soccer victory over Simon Fraser at Terry Fox Field.

The Falcons (8-2-0) improved to 5-1 in league play two days after being dealt a 2-1 loss at second-ranked Western Washington on Thursday in Bellingham.

SPU remained undefeated in seven all-time meetings against the Clan with six wins and one tie. Simon Fraser (0-6-2) fell to 0-4-2 in GNAC outings.

Husers (Lake Stevens, Wash./Lake Stevens HS) collected the ball in the Falcons defensive half and sprinted over 50 yards on a breakaway before finding the goal at 18:54 with her third goal of the season.

Junior Demi Waitley (Coronado, Calif.) made it 2-0 less than four minutes later, capitalizing on a scramble in front of the SFU goalmouth. She turned and fired a high shot from the top of the 6-yard box at 22:12 for her third goal.

The 2-0 halftime score didn't last long as Ali Martin (Beaverton, Ore.) netted her first goal of the season just over two minutes into the second half. The junior forward received a cross from Huesers into the box and spun to create space for a point-blank shot at 47:18.

Junior Alexa Hughes drew her first start in goal this season for the Falcons. She responded with two saves en route to the team's seventh shutout.

Meg Wilson was credited with seven saves for the Clan, who were outshot by a 24-5 margin.

The Falcons visit Central Washington on Thursday at 4 p.m. before hosting the rematch with league-leading Western Washington on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Interbay Stadium.
