LACEY, Wash. – Danny Olivas and Bryson Pavel each registered a goal and assist on Saturday, helping the Seattle Pacific men complete the regular season with a 4-1 Great Northwest Athletic Conference triumph over Saint Martin's at SMU Soccer Field.

The Falcons (12-3-3) finished second in the league standings with a 10-1-3 record. They are a strong candidate to make their third consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearance.

The entire championship field, including the six West Region contenders, will be announced on Monday at 4 p.m.

"We're excited for the announcement on Monday of the NCAA Tournament," said Coach Mark Collings, who directed the Falcons into the playoffs the last two seasons.

"We're looking forward to potentially having the opportunity to get back into the postseason."

Pavel set up Sean Russell for the opening goal at 13:05, an easy tap-in from the goalmouth. The sophomore defender collected a loose ball on the left side near the end line and slotted it across the goal for Russell, who finished from three yards out with his fourth strike of the season.

After the Saints (5-11-2) evened the score at 1-1 on a 17th-minute goal by Dylan Gaydosh, Olivas converted a penalty kick at 43:23 to provide a 2-1 halftime edge. That was the third goal for Olivas and was made possible when teammate Jordan Thompson was fouled in the box.

Pavel netted SPU's third goal, and his fourth of the year, at 78:19 on a 12-yard header over the goalkeeper off a free kick from Olivas.

Senior defender Kodiac Gamble capped the scoring with a penalty kick at 88:53 after a Saints player was whistled for a handball in the box. Gamble has four career goals, but this was the first of his final collegiate campaign.

Red-shirt freshman goalkeeper Cody Lang stopped two shots for the Falcons. Eric Owen made five saves for the Saints, who were outshot by a 19-9 margin.

SMU completes the season with a 5-7-2 GNAC record.
