• Complete ResultsLOWELL, Ore. – Seattle Pacific's novice four men's crew rowed to a fourth-place performance in the grand finals and the women's varsity four replicated that feat on Saturday at the Covered Bridge Regatta on Dexter Lake.
The Falcons first-year rowers, directed by coxswain
Nataliya Mokhnach, started the day off in fine fashion, winning their heat in 8 minutes, 14.10 seconds.
In the grand final, SPU's novice men improved that time to 7:59.24 to finish behind Oregon (7:06.44), Oregon State (7:10.89) and UO's second entry (7:46.14). Seattle University was fifth in 8:16.52.
In the women's varsity four heats, the Falcons were second in 8:32.07, trailing only Sonoma State (8:26.60).
SPU completed the 2,000-meter course in 8:34.94 during the grand final race to beat Sonoma (8:38.89) by a sliver of open water and claim fourth place. Humboldt State clocked a wining time of 8:02.62, Western Washington was the runner-up (8:14.37) and Portland was third (8:22.21). Arizona State placed sixth (8:43.09).

Erin Rowand and featured stroke
Hannah Horiatis and No. 3 seat
Jane Tarabochia. That stern duo was scheduled to row in the women's pair event, but it was canceled.
A third SPU crew competed in the men's varsity four competition, led by coxswain
Jasmine Pitzler.
The Falcons top men's boat posted a fourth-place time of 7:42.65 in the heats and did not advance to the championship race. They raced to a time of 8:30.19 and a third-place effort in the petite final that was won in 8:20.60 by Sonoma State. Reed College finished second (8:23.97) and Arizona State was fourth (10:18.80).
The Seattle Pacific crews take a week off from competition before traveling to Lake Natoma in Gold River, Calif. for the Western Intercollegiate Rowing Association (WIRA) Championships, April 25-26.
