SEATTLE – Hannah Huesers and Brooke Lancaster netted late goals exactly one minute apart Saturday for the Seattle Pacific women, who rallied to force overtime in a 3-3 Great Northwest Athletic Conference soccer tie with Montana State Billings at Interbay Stadium.

The Falcons (8-3-4) moved to 5-2-3 in league play while Billings (3-9-3) is 3-5-2.

While pleased with the Falcons fortitude during the rally, Coach Arby Busey was unhappy with the overall effort.

"It was a heck of a comeback. Unfortunately we left ourselves wanting with a disappointing performance on a day when we should have plenty of motivation to get a job done."

After getting the opening score by Huesers 26 minutes into the contest, SPU allowed three unanswered goals. The last, at 73:52 by Alycia Wright, put the hosts at a 3-1 deficit with 26 minutes left in regulation.

Huesers got one back after going on a long dribbling run, covering nearly three-quarters the length of the field. She broke behind the defense and scored with a 15-yard shot at 77:31.

Teammate Brooke Lancaster (Sumner HS) followed at 78:31 with the equalizer. She reached a cross from the left wing by Maddie Sjothun and volleyed a looping nine-yard attempt in from the far post area.

Huesers (Lake Stevens HS) now has nine goals this season to lead the league. She was the GNAC's top scorer in each of the previous two seasons, with 15 goals in 2014 and 14 in 2015.

The senior forward is now alone in second place among all-time SPU scorers with 44 career goals. She entered the game tied in the second spot with Shannon Lovejoy, who tallied 42 goals between 2002-05.

"She's the kind of kid who would trade the goals for the win because she is for the team," Busey said. "She certainly has earned the right to be the No. 2 scorer in school history. Hannah scored some huge goals for us today just as she has throughout her career."

Five more goals will tie Huesers for the school record of 49, a mark established by Sarah Martinez from 2004-07.

SPU compiled a 22-18 shot advantage, but did not get one off during either of the two, 10-minute overtime sessions.

Goalkeeper Molly Stinson (Woodinville HS) registered three of her four saves during the first half for the Falcons. Her MSUB counterpart, Lili Delgadillo, was credited with seven saves.

Huesers opened the scoring at 26:16 after Kaytlin Willis found her streaking down the right flank and delivered a long pass. As the MSUB goalkeeper came off her line, Huesers lofted a 14-yard shot high into the goal from a sharp angle.

The Yellowjackets evened the score at 34:53 when Kylee Wolfe collected a loose ball and broke toward the right post before slipping a 10-yard shot past Stinson.

Billings claimed the lead for the first time at 53:39 after Jordan Devoto looped a 12-yard shot barely carried under the crossbar. A low pass from Bailey Griglio on the right flank found Devoto in the box.

Alycia Wright increased the Yellowjackets lead to 3-1 with a three-yard tap in at the right side of the goalmouth after a low cross from the right end line by Hayley Warren at 73:52.

Saturday's game marked the final home playing appearance for six SPU student-athletes and all of them were in the starting lineup. The seniors honored during a pregame ceremony were Haley Ayers, Kelly Gould, Emma Holm, Hannah Huesers, Maddie Krauss and Hannah Lemm.

Those seniors helped Seattle Pacific register a 49-20-9 record during the last four seasons, including a 23-7-5 mark at Interbay Stadium. They took part in the NCAA Division II Tournament every year and won two GNAC Tournament championships.

Not only has this group performed well on the playing field, they also excel in the classroom as all six of them were recently named to the GNAC Academic All-Star Team.

"It's a great, great group of women. They are high character people," Busey described. "The value that they add on the field bears in the statistics and things like that, but there's so many things that they added between those numbers and the things that they have added off the field.

"They have been fantastic role models in the classroom, as human beings and as soccer players. There's been a long legacy of fantastic women come through this program and this class certainly upholds the standards and are right alongside those ones who came before them."

The Falcons play their final two regular-season games on the road next week. They visit Western Oregon on Thursday and Concordia (Ore.) on Saturday.
