SEATTLE – Hannah Huesers climbed into the No. 3 spot among all-time Seattle Pacific scorers with her 41st career goal, scoring early in the second half of Thursday's 1-1 double-overtime tie against Concordia of Oregon in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's soccer game at Interbay Stadium.

"That's two really good teams, two teams that know each other well and really, really fought hard to get a result," SPU coach Arby Busey said. "A draw is probably fair when it's all said and done because I thought both teams really invested in the game and deserved something from it."

The Falcons (6-2-3) moved to 3-1-2 in league play with their second 1-1 draw in three days. They tied at Central Washington on Tuesday.

Huesers (Lake Stevens HS) opened the scoring 10 minutes after halftime. She received a pass from Emma Holm and delivered a low shot from the top of box that snuck inside the left post at 54:10. That was her team-leading sixth score of the season.

"She was really a sniper with that shot. She just kind of put it where the goalkeeper couldn't get it," said Busey. "It wasn't blasted into the back of the net, she didn't hit it super hard.

"She's really added that to her game in the last couple years and become a very good finisher in terms of putting the ball where the goalkeepers can't get it."

The senior striker is tied for third among all-time Falcons with Megan Lindsay, who tallied 41 career goals from 2009-12. Shannon Lovejoy (2002-05) is the program's No. 2 scorer with 42 goals and Sarah Martinez (2004-07) owns the school record of 49.

Huesers was the 2015 GNAC and West Region Player of the Year. She led the league in scoring in both 2015 (14 goals) and 2014 (15).

Concordia leveled the score Thursday on an eight-yard poke at 67:33 by Karlie Hurley who gathered the ball in the center of the box after a deflection off a defender.

Each team had a near miss toward the end of regulation.

The Cavaliers (7-1-2) are now 2-1-2 in GNAC play. They nearly went ahead with nine minutes left when Kayla Braunthal broke free into the box. But goalkeeper Molly Stinson came off her line to smother the shot.

With four minutes showing on the second-half clock Huesers got a head to a Brooke Pingrey cross, but pushed it a bit high.

Stinson (Woodinville HS) was credited with nine saves for the Falcons, who were outshot by a 26-10 margin.

Olivia Brock stopped four shots for Concordia.

The teams battled to a scoreless draw during the opening 45 minutes while the Cavaliers compiled a 7-2 shot advantage. They had two quality chances, the first coming just over eight minutes after kickoff. Gabrielle Ewing was near the right post and had her shot go wide.

In the 14th minute a looping attempt by Kyra Radcliffe forced Stinson to tip the ball over the crossbar for a corner kick.

The most dangerous first-half opportunity came off the foot of the Falcons Brooke Lancaster. Her quick seven-yard boot, off a low cross from Huesers on the flank, was smothered by Brock, the Cavaliers keeper.

The SPU women visit Montana State Billings on Oct. 13 before returning to Seattle for a three-game homestand that begins on Oct. 15 versus Simon Fraser. Kick-off for their next home game is 4 p.m. at Interbay Stadium.

Busey is grateful for the respite the six-day break between games will provide.

"It will be great for us to get a little bit of rest. This rest is coming at a perfect time. We've got some guys who are a little under the weather. Now they get a few days to get some extra sleep, they can catch up on homework and we can move on and really try to make a push here at the end of the season."
