SEATTLE – Courtney Hollander went for a double-double of 14 points and 10 rebounds, and was one of four Seattle Pacific players in double-figure scoring as the Falcons downed George Fox in an exhibition women's basketball game on Saturday night, 72-56.

SPU, which won both of its exhibition contests, got 12 points apiece from Jordan McPhee and Brianne Lasconia, and 10 from Lindsay Lee.

The Falcons built a 10-point lead by the end of the first quarter in Brougham Pavilion at 24-14, and doubled it to 20 by halftime at 46-26.

George Fox got as close as 11 late in the third quarter at 51-40. But Seattle Pacific responded with an 11-1 run to close out the third and open the fourth, stretching it back to a 21-point bulge at 62-41.

As she did in last week's 53-45 victory at Seattle University, Hollander shot well from the floor, hitting 5 of 10 overall and 3 of 4 from behind the 3-point arc. Lasconia (2 of 3) and Lee (2 of 4) also had the eye from long range.

McPhee, Lasconia, and Hannah Rodrigues had three assists apiece for SPU. The Falcons had assists on 19 of their 22 baskets.

The Falcons shot 36.1 percent from the floor (22 of 61), and were 7 of 18 from downtown (38.9 percent). They limited George Fox to 36.9 percent (21 of 57) and only 4 of 17 from 3-point range (23.5 percent).

SPU won the boards, 42-40, getting 18 of those from the offensive end that led to 14 second-chance points.

"George Fox is a very, very good team. This was a great opportunity to get better at a lot of things," SPU coach Julie Heisey said. "Our goal was to have 18 turnovers or less because we would face a lot of pressure, and I thought we did a good job because we were just one over on that. We wanted to outscore them from the free throw line, and we did (21-10), and we wanted to win points in the paint (the Bruins got that one, 28-24).

"Everyone has been playing well in practice, and it's fun that everyone got to play," Heisey added.

With exhibition games complete, Seattle Pacific will turn its attention to the regular season, which begins in Brougham Pavilion next weekend with the Sodexo Tip-Off Classic. The Falcons will play Fresno Pacific on Friday, Nov. 11, and Humboldt State on Saturday the 12th, both at 5:00 p.m. Western Washington will play the opposite opponent in the 1:00 p.m. game each day.
