MONMOUTH, Ore. – That's the kind of finale theyhad in mind.

Courtney Hollander scored 14 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, and Lindsay Lee added a career-high 10 points off the bench on Saturday as Seattle Pacific closed its women's basketball season with a 55-40 Great Northwest Athletic Conference victory at Western Oregon.

The Falcons (12-15, 9-11 GNAC) finished the year on a two-game winning streak, and won six of their last eight.

Courtney Hollander
Sophomore forward Hollander (Lynden, Wash. / Lynden Christian HS) recorded her ninth double-double of the season. That's the most in one season for SPU since Nyesha Sims logged 10 in 2011-12.

"Courtney has played every game since Dec. 31 on a broken finger. That was a lot of effort and courage," Falcons head coach Julie Heisey said. "It would have been very easy for her not to shoot. But she never complained, and she showed a lot of toughness."

Sophomore guard Lee (Spokane, Wash. / Lewis & Clark HS) exceeded her previous career high of nine, which she hit twice, most recently on Feb. 18 in a 57-49 victory against Alaska Fairbanks. Lee was a perfect 4 of 4 on Saturday, including two makes from 3-point range.

The 40 points was a season-low for SPU, was the second straight time and third in the last four games that it has kept an opponent below 50.

"It was definitely a team effort. That started on defense, and forcing them into 20 turnovers," Heisey said. "We've done little things, like being to lower our turnovers (just 13 on Saturday), and defend and control the boards. Today, we did a good job again defensively to be able to hold them to 40 points."

Down 14-9 early in the second quarter, the Falcons put together a 15-0 run to take a 24-14 lead, and stayed ahead for the rest of the afternoon. Sophomore guard Jordan McPhee (Normandy Park, Wash. / Mount Rainier HS), provided seven of those 15 points, and finished the day with nine.

Seattle Pacific had a 29-21 halftime lead. Western Oregon (4-24, 4-16 GNAC) got as close as five at 31-26 with 6:50 left in the third quarter, and was still within six at 39-33 late in the third.

But the Falcons then ran off nine straight points bridging the third and fourth quarters, and kept the Wolves off the board for 8 minutes, 17 seconds. SPU had a 15-point lead, 48-33, by the time Western Oregon finally scored again with just 2:56 left in the game.

Molly Grager (Kirkland, Wash. / Juanita HS), the only Seattle Pacific senior, had two points and one rebound in 21 minutes of action as she wrapped up her college career.
