CORVALLIS, Ore. – Senior Maria Hundley was the top vaulter and sophomore Ariana Harger tied for third on that apparatus Friday, leading Seattle Pacific to a second-place finish in a women's gymnastics meet against two NCAA Division I opponents at Gill Coliseum.
 
The Division II Falcons achieved their second-best team score of the season at 193.300, just 0.60 behind their leading mark of 193.900 established on Feb. 19 at Northern Illinois. Friday's team score placed them ahead of Ball State (192.425) and behind host Oregon State, which posted a lofty mark of 196.800.
 
SPU rotated to the vault last and prevented the Beavers from sweeping every event title. Hundley (Littleton, Colo.) received a score of 9.85 that was 0.025 superior to the 9.825 reached by runner-up Madeline Gardiner of OSU.

Ariana Harger
Harger (Castro Valley, Calif.) performed her best vault of the season and was rewarded with a 9.80, tying with Ball State's Erin Patchey. She earned SPU's best floor exercise tally, tying for sixth at 9.775.
 
Those two Falcons finished two-three in the all-around competition. Harger had a four-event total of 38.850 to beat her career-best of 38.650. Hundley compiled 38.450 all-around points that included a fifth-place mark of 9.825 on the balance beam.
 
OSU's Gardiner tallied the meet's top all-around mark of 39.500 that featured a first-place score of 9.925 on the beam. She shared top honors in that event with teammate Risa Perez.
 
The Beavers' Kaytianna McMillan was a two-event winner, leading the uneven bars (9.925) and floor (9.900) fields.
 
Breanna Beltran and Tracie Villanueva were SPU's best bars scorers with matching eighth-place marks of 9.725.
 
The Falcons return home to host Washington on Monday at 6 p.m. in Brougham Pavilion. That is the first of back-to-back meets against the Huskies, who host SPU on Saturday, March 12 at 6 p.m. in Edmundson Pavilion.
