SEATTLE – The Seattle Pacific Falcons controlled the scoreboard on Saturday, maintaining a lead for the entire game and defeating George Fox in Brougham Pavilion, 71-56.
 
Senior guard Jordan McPhee led SPU with 17 points. Close behind with 14 points was senior Lindsay Lee, who was a perfect 6 of 6 from the field, including 2 of 2 from 3-point range.
 
The Falcons took control from the start, scoring the first six points, and was up 21-12 by the end of the first quarter.
 
George Fox, a perennial NCAA Division III power, came as close as one at 26-25 with 4:50 left in the second quarter. The Falcons quickly clamped down on defense, and were up 44-32 at halftime.
 
Seattle Pacific extended its advantage throughout the third quarter, pushing the lead to 20 at 61-41.
 
Haylee Hutzler and Emily Spencer led the Bruins with nine points apiece.
  
SPU shot a solid 48.4 percent for the game, hitting 31 of 64. George Fox was limited to 34 percent shooting (18 of 53).
 
The regular season begins next Friday, Nov. 10, against Humboldt State in the Fresno Pacific West Region Classic. Tip-off is at 5:30 p.m. The Falcons then face host Fresno Pacific next Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
