SEATTLE –
Ariana Harger's teammates were extremely vocal as usual. But they were in the upper level of the arena instead of their usual place on the competition floor alongside the Seattle Pacific junior.

Harger was the Falcons' lone entrant Saturday at the NCAA Division I women's gymnastics regional championships in Washington's Alaska Airlines Arena. She represented SPU well in her two events.

An excellent floor exercise routine was rewarded with a score of 9.800. That figure tied her for 18th place in the high-level field. That was the top floor mark among individual at-large competitors.

Harger earned a mark of 9.725 on the vault to tie for 32nd on that appartatus.

Her performances were aided by encouragement from the other Falcons seated above as well as on the floor level from her new "teammates" from Stanford. She rotated with the Cardinal gymnasts at the regional.
Harger (Castro Valley, Calif.) was invited to compete at the Division I regional based on lofty qualifying scores compiled during the regular season.

Top-ranked Oklahoma won Saturday's team competition with 198.075 points and host Washington was second with 196.550. They both advance to the NCAA Championship meet, April 14-15 in St. Louis, Mo.

Kentucky finished third in the team standings (196.200), Stanford was fourth (195.575), Brigham Young fifth (195.025) and Utah State sixth (194.850).
