• Lauren Glover feature story
SEATTLE – Seattle Pacific gymnast
Lauren Glover, an All-America floor exercise performer, was named to the All-District 8 Academic Team for NCAA Division II student-athletes.
The Falcons senior received district recognition for the first time from the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). She was selected to the at-large squad that includes 13 sports that don't have their own specific academic team.
Glover is among 11 student-athletes from the West honored for their excellence both in the classroom and the arena. Each district honoree will be placed on the Academic All-America ballot with first-, second- and third-team national selections scheduled for announcement on June 7.

A product of Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Collins, Colo., Glover finished 14th in the floor competition on April 9 at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships in SPU's Brougham Pavilion. She qualified for the event finals with a score of 9.850 during the team semifinals.
Glover garnered her second career All-America award. She received the bronze medal for a third-place performance at the 2016 national championship meet.
She is a standout competitor in three events, boasting high scores of 9.875 on the floor, 9.825 on the balance beam and 9.800 on the vault.
A double major in accounting and French, Glover tops the team with a 3.92 grade point average. That is the highest GPA among all senior student-athletes at SPU.
The SPU gymnasts finished fifth in the team standings at the 2017 USAGym Championships. They participated in the national meet for the 35th time in the last 36 years.
The academic awards program is produced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Student-athletes must have at least a 3.30 grade-point average, have already completed one season of competition and be a starter or significant reserve to be nominated.
District 8 is comprised of the entire West, including Alaska, Hawaii, Washington, Idaho, Oregon, California and Arizona.
