DENTON, Texas – Seattle Pacific sophomore Darian Burns placed sixth nationally on the uneven bars and freshman Autumn Huskie performed a ninth-place vault Sunday to earn All-America honors during the individual event finals at the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Championships in Magee Arena.

Burns (Atlanta, Ga.) collected her third All-America certificate of the three-day championships and the sixth of her two-year collegiate career. She tied for second place in Friday's all-around competition with a four-event total of 39.100 points. That figure included a score of 9.850 on the bars that earned Burns a berth in Sunday's event finals.

She had a solid bars set in the finals with just one step on the landing that merited a 9.775 to tie for sixth.

A year ago at the 2017 USAGym Championships in Seattle, Burns shared the national championship on the floor exercise.

Huskie (Golden, Colo.) competed at the collegiate national meet for the first time. She raced down the runway and produced a vault score of 9.7375 to claim ninth place. Huskie qualified to participate in the finals by earning a score of 9.800 in Friday's preliminary round.

Schyler Jones from host Texas Woman's University was the big winner at the national meet. The Pioneers won the team championship on Saturday with a total of 196.525 points.

Jones claimed the all-around title with 39.600 points on Friday and then Sunday captured three event championships. Jones won the vault (9.9125) outright and shared the beam (9.825) and floor (9.900) crowns.

The only title Jones didn't win was the bars, finishing second at 9.850. Yale's Jessica Wang was victorious on that apparatus with a score of 9.900.

Five other Falcons competed Friday at the championships, but did not advance to the finals. Junior Itzia San Roman placed 10th in the all-around (38.125) and freshman McKenna Zimmermann was 13th (37.800).

Lena Wirth compiled scores of 9.725 on the beam and 9.625 on the vault. Miyuki Matsune narrowly missed qualifying for the event finals with a mark of 9.825 on the beam while sophomore classmate Sienna Brane received a 9.100 on the bars.

In total, SPU gymnasts collected six All-America awards. Burns earned a third honor as a second-teamer on the floor. Also garnering second-team All-America accolades were San Roman in the all-around and Matsune on the beam.

A three-time team titlist with championships in 1986, 1992 and 1997, Seattle Pacific did not qualify as a team for the national meet for just the second time in 37 years.

Sponsored by USA Gymnastics, the collegiate national championships feature NCAA Division II members and Division I schools that choose to adhere to the limit of 7-1/2 scholarships. This year's field included five Division I team qualifiers and three Division II entries.
