LA MIRADA, Calif. – Seattle Pacific allowed only one shot on goal, but that was enough for Biola, which converted it into a goal to deal the Falcons' first women's soccer setback, 1-0, on Saturday night at Al Barbour Field.

SPU (4-1-1) lost despite not allowing a shot during the entire second half and had its five-game undefeated streak halted.

The Falcons accrued 13 shots on the night with six of them being directly on goal while Biola clustered all five of its shots before halftime.
 Freshman
Riley Travis (Ballard HS) played the entire game in goal for SPU. She surrendered her first collegiate goal in 290 minutes between the posts.

Sarah Jeffries put the Eagles (2-2-1) up early when she scored on a crosser from Annmarie Alvarez at the 09:53 mark. Jeffries was put a 16-yard strike from the left side inside the far right post for her first goal of the season.

The Falcons could not capitalize on their opportunities in the first half. The team had four shots, two of them on target.

Sophomore
Sophia Chilczuk had a one-on-one opportunity against the Biola goalkeeper, freshman Viviana Poli, at the 13:53 mark. But Poli made a sliding stop to deny the attempt.

SPU senior
Mickayla Mury had the other shot on goal in the first half, but her shot went high in the 41st minute.

Seattle Pacific had a goal nullified due to an offside call in the 29th minute.

The Falcons were able to apply plenty of pressure in the second half, attempting nine shots and forcing Biola to make four saves.

SPU was awarded a free kick early in the second period which led to a shot from senior
Julia DeVere at 46:03 from 15 yards out, but Poli made the save.

Chilczuk corralled the ball on the far side of the field in the 53rd minute. She positioned herself and took a strike from outside the box, but Poli made a diving, one-handed save to deny the Falcons one of their best opportunities.

Junior
Megan Moore had an opportunity from a 63rd-minute cross, but her shot went wide right. Chilczuk had another chance a few minutes later and Poli denied it.

Poli continued her busy second half when she saved a shot after a strike from freshman
Ava Giovanola at 74:38. Giovanola took an opportunity outside of the box and Poli dove to her left for her sixth and final save of the night.

The loss to the Eagles wraps up the Falcons non-conference schedule. Seattle Pacific will begin Great Northwest Athletic Conference play on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. against Saint Martin's in Lacey, Wash.
