SEATTLE – Titus Grant tallied a goal and distributed an assist on Saturday for Seattle Pacific, which tallied the game's first four scores and then held off a late Saint Martin's rally to claim a 4-2 Great Northwest Athletic Conference men's soccer victory at Interbay Stadium.

The Falcons (5-9-1) registered back-to-back wins for the first time this season, following a 2-1 result at Simon Fraser on Nov. 2. They improved to 4-6-0 in league play.

Terrific Titus
Grant found joy in the 15th minute to start the scoring. He settled a high pass from midfield by Sam Malloch and cleverly slotted a 23-yard shot past goalkeeper Dylan Shaw, who had some far off his line.

The opening goal was a rare treat for SPU, which had conceded the initial tally 11 times this season. The Falcons got their fourth, improving to 3-0-1 when scoring first.

"It's amazing what happens when you don't dig yourself a hole," said SPU coach Mark Collings. "This year, anytime that we've scored first we haven't lost. Getting that first goal is important, and we did that tonight."

TITUS GRANT INTERVIEW
Senior Night Score
Grant set up SPU's second score with a 26th-minute cross from the left flank that travelled across the 6-yard box. Trevor Lee raced to slide and poke the ball in from six yards out.

That was Lee's second goal of the year and it came in his final home playing appearance. The only senior on the SPU roster, Lee was honored with a pregame Senior Night Ceremony.

"I'm just happy that we could win in our last home game with Trevor. For him to score on top of that is pretty remarkable," Collings said. "He's such a selfless guy and he makes the most of any time he gets. He doesn't complain, has a great attitude in training and works hard. Because of that the other guys have really fed off that attitude.

"Being the lone senior he could have hung his head when he wasn't playing as much, then when he did play he was performing. What a great example to set, so for him to get a goal is a true reward for that."

 TREVOR LEE GOAL
Kiss From a Rose
A pair of Falcons freshmen got in the scorebook for the first time as collegians. Skylor Rose put the hosts ahead 3-0 with a 60th-minute strike off passes from Cole Rogers and Jordan Greenshield.

Rogers then notched SPU's last goal with half an hour left to play.

"Cole's goal was great. He was there for the follow-up and had the composure to beat the keeper and tuck it away. That was really mature on his part," Collings described. "But boy, Skylor's goal was pretty. It started with Jordan Greenshield. We talk a lot about driving at defenders and he did, so by drawing them in it gave Cole the space he needs. The ball Cole played to the back post was fantastic and Skylor's finish was something else.

"That's one of the better goals we've scored this year and two of our freshmen just happened to be part of that. At this point in the year you expect your young guys to be playing better because they have experience and certainly that's what we saw tonight."

SKYLOR ROSE GOAL
Saints Strike Back
The Saints (9-7-2) didn't surrender despite seeing their GNAC record drop to 4-6-1.

Brandon Madsen tallied back-to-back scores with his head, in the 63rd and 78th minutes, to cut the deficit in half. He increased his GNAC-leading goal total to 18 and only a missed penalty kick in the 23rd minute prevented a hat trick by the SMU senior.

The free shot from the 12-yard spot was awarded when SPU defender Nik Reierson had the ball fly up and strike his arm while attempting control the ball.

Goalkeeper Lars Helleren stopped two shots for SPU and his counterpart Shaw was credited with four saves.

The final shot count was level at 13-13, but the hosts had the higher quality chances. SPU put nine shots directly on frame  and the Saints had four.

Grant nearly struck a second time with 3:39 left to play, but his hard shot from the top of the box was barely tipped over the crossbar by Shaw.

Season-Ending Road Trip
The Seattle Pacific men close out the season with two road games next week. They visit Montana State Billings on Thursday at 1 p.m. Pacific Time before concluding the campaign at Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 3 p.m. PST.

Collings eagerly anticipates the upcoming road trip.

"We're looking forward to it. Now we have a little bit of momentum and we've started to figure things out.

"To win championships, eventually you've got to win on the road. Our goal is to win championships here, so if we can build some momentum by winning this next one on the road then go to NNU having won our last couple on the road, with the win over Simon last week. That would be a great thing for our program, a great thing for our team and would give us a lot of good momentum heading into the winter as we get ready for 2020."
