CORVALLIS, Ore. – Kylie Reese registered season-high scores on her two events and was the top vault finisher for Seattle Pacific, which completed the gymnastics regular season Friday with a fourth-place result at the Oregon State Quad meet in Gill Coliseum.
 
The host Beavers handily won the meet, amassing 196.550 points to surpass by more than a full point runner-up Iowa's mark of 195.425. North Carolina had a third-place score of 191.750 and NCAA Division II competitor SPU finished with 190.625. The top-three teams were all from the Division I ranks.
 
The Falcons opened the meet on the floor exercise and Reese notched a score of 9.725 that surpassed her previous season best of 9.700 by 0.025, the same margin by which she came within her career high of 9.750. Reese's mark was only exceeded by one teammate, Darian Burns, who tied for ninth place overall with a mark of 9.825.
 
SPU's team floor output of 48.300 points tied for its fifth highest of the year on that apparatus.
 
The second rotation had the Falcons on the vault and Reese was their top performer. The sophomore from Eugene, competing in her home state for the first time as a collegian, received a score of 9.675. That eclipsed her previous career best of 9.600.
 
Seattle Pacific topped the 48-point plateau on the vault with a combined score of 48.125.
 
The Falcons found the final two events to be a struggle.
 
A team total of 47.250 on the uneven bars was led by McKenna Zimmermann's 9.525.

 

For the second straight week Burns was solid on the balance beam, earning 9.675 points to tie for 10th place. That wasn't enough to prevent the Falcons from posting their second-lowest beam total of the season, 46.950.
 
None of the other teams has gymnasts competing in all four events, so the Falcons claimed the top-two all-around places. Burns had a first-place 38.200 tally and Zimmermann was second with 37.650.
 
 
NEXT MEET
Seattle Pacific begins postseason competition next week and hosts the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships on Saturday, March 23. The six-team conference meet starts at 6 p.m. in Brougham Pavilion.
 
VAULT
• Kylie Reese topped the team with a 9.675. She is the ninth different Falcon to lead the team in at least one event this season.
• A balanced scoring event for SPU with a spread of just 0.15 between the No. 1 and No. 6 score.
• The team total of 48.125 put the Falcons above 48 points on the vault for the eighth time in 10 meets.

• Sophomore Haven Lanzador was in the bars lineup for the second straight week and responded with a 9.425.
• A 47.250 bars total ranked just eighth highest in 10 meets this year.

• Haven Lanzador performed an exhibition routine and was rewarded with a 9.525 that would have ranked No. 4 among Falcons in the competition lineup.
• The Falcons were on the upswing with 48-point team beam scores the previous two meets that were the highest this year. They fell below 47 points Friday for just the second time in 2019.
