INDIANAPOLIS – A span of 10 years. A collection of 10 awards.

In terms of classroom success, it doesn't get any more perfect than that for Seattle Pacific student-athletes.

The NCAA Presidents' Award for Academic Excellence, which recognizes a four-year academic success rate (ASR) of 90 percent or higher, has been presented to SPU for the 10th year in a row.

For the most recent four-year period, Seattle Pacific's ASR was 94 percent. As defined by the award's eligibility standards, that means 94 percent of all Falcon student-athletes from the 2010-13 cohort graduated within six years of initial enrollment.

"I believe that this award is reflective of the unique and distinct student-athlete experience that exists at Seattle Pacific," Falcons athletic director Jackson Stava said, "and we look forward to working hard toward many more years of similar success."

School athletic departments that achieve a four-year academic success rate of 90 percent or higher are presented with the Presidents' Award.

SPU is one of just 10 schools that has been on the list all 10 years that the honor has been presented.

"I am so proud to yet again receive this award as a department."

In essence, almost all Division II student-athletes are considered when calculating the percentages. That includes transfers as well as those who aren't receiving any scholarship aid.

SPU is one of six schools in the 94th percentile. Among the others in that group are Eckerd College of Florida and Rockhurst University of Missouri, two of the 10 schools to receive the award all 10 years.

Along with Seattle Pacific, the Great Northwest Athletic Conference was represented by Western Washington, which had an ASR of 90.

Elsewhere from the West Region, Biola had an ASR of 96, Point Loma Nazarene was at 95, and Dominican University joined SPU at 94.

Bentley University of Massachusetts once again was the top team, this time with an ASR of 99.

Joining SPU, Bentley, Eckerd and Rockhurst who received the award for the 10th time in 10 years are Saint Michael's College, Hillsdale, Rollins, Stonehill, Assumption, and University of the Sciences.

Stava made clear that an award of this stature is the result of efforts across the entire Seattle Pacific campus.

"I would like to thank the world-class faculty here at Seattle Pacific, as this level of academic excellence would not be possible without their partnership and support of Falcon athletics," he said. "Similarly, I am reminded again of the culture created by our coaching staff which allows our student athletes to truly thrive in all aspects of their collegiate journey. "
