All-GNAC Recognition for Alter, Hoff

Seattle Pacific seniors earn a place on the honorable mention list

PORTLAND, Ore. – Natalie Hoff, who is Seattle Pacific's leading scorer and rebounder, and Ashley Alter, the second-leading scorer and one of the team's top defensive players, each have earned a place on the All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference honorable mention list.

Hoff, a 6-foot-2 senior forward, is averaging 11.0 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. She has three double-doubles this season. Hoff scored a career-high 18 points against Hawaii Pacific on Nov. 15, and matched that in a 67-45 victory at Alaska Fairbanks on New Year's Day – the same team that the Falcons will play in the first round of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Tournament on Wednesday (today) in Brougham Pavilion.

The most recent of her double-doubles was a 13-point, 13-rebound effort at Western Washington on Feb. 3. Her total on the boards was a career high. She has tallied her 600th career point and collected her 400th rebound this winter.

Hoff also is a steady shooter. In 27 games, she has hit 50 percent or better in 15 of them.

"Natalie has been very consistent for us. She is someone we have gone to consistently to get a bucket," Falcons head coach Mike Simonson said. "What makes her a really good player in our conference is she has a great knack for rebounding. She gets her hands on a lot of balls. One thing I love about Natalie is her resiliency – if she ever had a poor game, she came right back and had a tremendous game the next time."

Alter is a 5-11 senior who can play guard or forward. She is averaging 10.2 points and 36 boards per game, also handing out 32 assists and coming up with 15 steals.

In a game against Northwest Nazarene on Dec. 4 in Brougham Pavilion, Alter recorded her second career double-double, coming up with 20 points and 10 rebound, the latter tying her career high.

This season, Alter has surpassed career milestones of 600 points, 200 rebounds, and 100 assists.

"Ashley is one of the most talented players in the conference, and I'm really happy the rest of the conference noticed that quality," Simonson said. "She can really get it going and score. Missing as much time as she did (three weeks with an illness in late January) and to still get honorable mention shows how much the conference respects her skillset and talent level."

It is the first conference postseason honor for both players. Last November, Alter was a unanimous selection to the preseason All-GNAC team.

Central Washington's Kassidy Malcolm was named the Player of the Year.
