SEATTLE – Throughout the summer, the Seattle Pacific sports information team will pose a series of questions to various Falcon athletes. We will feature one athlete each Wednesday. This week, rower
Elise Arkills has the mic:
Now that things got back to some sense of normalcy, what was the most memorable part of this past season for you?
"The most memorable part of this past season was making it to NCAAs with my team. It truly was an unforgettable experience and one we had worked so hard for and showed that all our work had paid off."
Looking ahead to next season, what are you most excited about?
"I am most excited to keep working toward our goals as a team and to meet the new recruits and walk-ons that will be joining our team."
What are you planning to do this summer – Work? Vacation? Hang out with family? All of the above?
"This summer, I am planning to work as a caregiver in Gig Harbor, go camping with my family, and spend time relaxing and hanging out with my friends."
What is your favorite summertime way to stay in shape and prepare for next season?
"To stay in shape during the summer, I love to go for hikes. Some of my favorite hikes are located near Seattle and I love to spend time in the outdoors."
Most athletes went to a summer sports camp of some kind when they were younger. Did you – and if so, what is your favorite memory from a summer sports camp?
"When I was younger, I went to a summer basketball camp. My favorite memory was meeting new people and learning different drills based on the sport. I also really enjoyed the leaders that led the camp and getting to spend time with them."
Growing up, what was your favorite thing to do or what was your favorite place to go during the summer – and why was that your favorite?
"Growing up, my favorite place to go in the summers was Priest Lake, Idaho. I loved this place because it was where I got to spend time with just my family, hang out on the boat in the sun. Since there was no Wi-Fi or cellular data, there it was a great place to relax and disconnect from the world for a while."
Someday – maybe sooner, maybe later – what is one place you'd really like to visit, and why that particular place?
"Someday, I would love to visit Switzerland. I would love to go there because I love the beautiful landscape and mountains. I would love to explore the Swiss Alps because I really enjoy spending time in the outdoors."
