SEATTLE – Throughout the summer, the Seattle Pacific sports information team will pose a series of questions to various Falcon athletes. We will feature one athlete each Wednesday. This week, men's soccer player Tyler Speer has the mic:

Now that things got back to some sense of normalcy, what was the most memorable part of this past season for you?
"Going on away trips is always a great time, and I enjoyed doing again that this last season. Particularly, this last season we went to Hawaii for almost a week, which was a great time."

Tyler Speer 2020 headshotLooking ahead to next season, what are you most excited about?
"I am most excited about trying to further the success that we had from last season. Winning the GNAC was great from last year, but we would like to do even better this upcoming season."

What are you planning to do this summer – Work? Vacation? Hang out with family? All of the above?
"I plan to work for the soccer club I played for growing up, coaching in summer camps, helping out with training sessions, etc. I plan to spend time with my family and friends from back home, and I also will be taking the MCAT in July, so I will be studying lots to prepare for that."

What is your favorite summertime way to stay in shape and prepare for next season?
"I love getting outside and going for a run on various trails near where I live. It's great just to be outside in the warm weather out in the middle of nature."

Most athletes went to a summer sports camp of some kind when they were younger. Did you – and if so, what is your favorite memory from a summer sports camp?
"My favorite summer sports camp to go to growing up was hosted by the local college team, Colorado Mesa University. Getting outside to play soccer all day in the warm weather was super fun."

Growing up, what was your favorite thing to do or what was your favorite place to go during the summer – and why was that your favorite?
"My family has been to Tulum in Mexico several times when I was growing up, and this was probably my favorite place to go. I love the beach. But being from Colorado, I never got that growing up. So going on vacation to the beach was great. My favorite thing to do while I was there was to go snorkeling."

Someday – maybe sooner, maybe later – what is one place you'd really like to visit, and why that particular place?
"I would really like to visit Barcelona some day because it just seems like such a cool city with great views and great food. Plus, I would love to catch an FC Barcelona game while visiting."
