ATLANTA – The Seattle Pacific Falcons have received Special Mention recognition for their work in the classroom from the Women's Basketball Coaches Association.

Through the end of the 2021-22 academic year, SPU student-athletes, under the guidance of head coach Mike Simonson, compiled a team cumulative grade-point average of 3.488.

This past season, Seattle Pacific placed a program record 10 players onto the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic team, more than any of the other nine schools in the conference.

In July, five Falcons – Rachel Berg, Schuyler Berry, Hunter Beirne, Natalie Hoff, and Hailey Marlow – were presented with GNAC Faculty Athletic Representative Scholar-Athlete awards for maintaining a cumulative GPA of 3.85 or higher.

The WBCA honor is the latest in a string of academic awards earned by Falcon athletes and teams. Earlier this summer, the Seattle Pacific volleyball team, the women's track and field team, and the men's track and field team all received national recognition for their classroom accomplishments.

In addition, the overall Seattle Pacific women's program (basketball, cross country, rowing, soccer, track, and volleyball) won the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Academic All-Sports award for the second year in a row.
