PORTLAND, Ore. – Pick a stat – any stat – and
Ashley Alter produced in abundance last week.
Whether it was points, rebounds, or even a couple blocked shots, the fifth-year Seattle Pacific standout came up big in the team's two biggest women's basketball wins of the season. Having done that, she has been named as the Great Northwest Athletic Conference's Player of the Week.

Alter's performances helped the Falcons hand both Northwest Nazarene and Central Washington their first conference losses of the season: 58-45 against the Nighthawks last Thursday, and 70-63 against the No. 22-ranked Wildcats on Saturday.
In the NNU game, the 5-foot-11 guard / forward pulled down a career-high 14 rebounds to go along with 17 points, two assists, a career high-tying five steals, and one blocked shot in 37 minutes. The double-double was the third of her career.
On Saturday vs. Central, Alter went for a career-high 31 points on 10-of-19 shooting from the field (6 of 12 from 3-point range), plus nine rebounds, two assists, two steals, and one block in 39½ minutes.
While she was doing that, Alter also played some solid defense against CWU's Valerie Huerta, the GNAC's second-leading scorer, limiting her to 16 points on 7-of-21 shooting.
For the week, Alter averaged 24 points, 11.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 3.5 steals, and shot .486 from the field (17 of 35), including .500 from downtown (8 of 16).
This is Alter's second Player of the Week award. Her previous one was Jan. 18, 2021 after a pair of 20-plus point performances in back-to-back games against Saint Martin's during the pandemic-abbreviated season.
