PORTLAND, Ore. – The Great Northwest Athletic Conference has named Seattle Pacific University women's soccer student-athlete Marissa Bankey as the Conference's Offensive Player of the Week.

"Marissa is an amazing human being, and a great soccer player as well," head coach Arby Busey said, "She had a great weekend. She came up big time for us on Saturday night with a couple of goals to help our team get a great result on the road. She was phenomenal on Thursday as well, helping to shut out NNU. She showed tremendous resilience and character this weekend and helped inspire her teammates to two wins."

Bankey was crucial in the Falcons comeback victory over Central Washington last Saturday. She had the game-tying and game-winning goals with time winding down in the match. Bankey played 131 minutes last weekend, took four shots, and capped a solid weekend with two goals and four points.

In the 74th minute of Saturday's match, Bankey leveled the match at two. Mia Mahaffey sent a corner kick into the box that bounced out to Bankey outside the 18. She sent a laser into the top right corner for her second goal this season.

In the 87th minute, the Falcons had gained possession and bagn to set up their attack. Bankey launched it in from 30 yards out. The ball cleared the outstretched arms of the Wildcats' keeper and snuck in just under the top bar.

Bankey's award is the fourth time the Falcons have received recognition from the conference. Taylor Krueger and Mercedes Cullen swept the offensive and defensive awards on Sept. 18. SPU became the Team of the Week that same day.

The Falcons return to Interbay Soccer Stadium on Oct. 5 for a match against Saint Martin's at 4 p.m.
