SEATTLE – Throughout the summer, the Seattle Pacific sports information team will pose a series of questions to various Falcon athletes. We will feature one athlete each Wednesday. This week, it's women's cross country / track distance runner
Matise Mulch.
What was the most memorable part of this past season for you?
"The most memorable part of my past season was running my first-ever 10k. I was very scared going into it, but as soon as I started running, I knew that it was going to be a good race. I had fun all 25 laps and knew I had found a new favorite race!"
Looking ahead to next season, what are you most excited about?
"I am super-excited for cross country this year. Specifically, I love how close we are as a team in cross since there are not very many of us. I also love racing with my teammates and knowing we are all in it together."
What are you planning to do this summer – Work? Vacation? Hang out with family? All of the above?
"This summer, I am planning on working and spending time with my family. I am working to earn money for a mission trip to the Dominican Republic at the end of the summer."
What is your favorite summertime way to stay in shape and prepare for next season?
"Since I am a distance runner. I do quite a bit of running over the summer, but I also love hiking to stay in shape."
Most athletes went to a summer sports camp of some kind when they were younger. Did you – and if so, what is your favorite memory from a summer sports camp?
"When I was younger, I went to many summer running camps. My favorite part of those was sitting around the campfire and playing silly games that even the coaches would join in on."
Growing up, what was your favorite thing to do or what was your favorite place to go during the summer – and why was that your favorite?
"I loved swimming in the lake near my house. I have so many memories with my family and friends that make it such a happy place to be."
Someday – maybe sooner, maybe later – what is one place you'd really like to visit, and why that particular place?
"I would like to see New Zealand because there are so many beautiful hiking trails to explore."
