BURNABY, B.C. – Grace Coston scored her first career goal for the Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday afternoon, but a goal with five seconds left from Western Washington forced extra time, where the Vikings went on to take the match 2-1 in double overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- In the 33rd minute of the match, Grace Coston checked into the game and went on to make an immediate impact for the Falcons.
- Ashlyn Valdovinos took a corner kick for the Falcons in the 35th minute that Maya Parman let go under her foot to Coston.
- Coston lined up and drilled a shot from 20 yards out that went over the outstretched hand of the WWU's Ellie McGowan, and gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead.
- In the 45th minute, Mercedes Cullen made one of her best saves of the season, diving back to her left toward the goal to keep the Vikings off the scoreboard.
- The Falcons owned a 1-0 lead at halftime.
- Parman fired a shot on goal that nearly gave the Falcons a 2-0 lead in the 73rd minute, but it was saved by McGowan.
- With six seconds left in the match, Emily Rice took a free kick that got to Morgan Manalili at the back post, who headed it into the goal to tie the match 1-1.
- Then, in the 103rd minute of the match, Manalili sent in a ball that Reese Walker put away to win the match for the Vikings, 2-1.
