SEATTLE – Layne Kearns led the Seattle Pacific University women's basketball team with a game-high 17 points and a team-high eight rebounds, but it wasn't enough as visitors Northwest Nazarene left Seattle with a 72-62 victory over the Falcons.

Karen Byers said. "We outrebounded them, and we played with pace. Kara [Wilson] really stood out tonight with her defense and energy on the court."
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons trailed the Nighthawks 9-6 in the first quarter when a 3-pointer from Kearns sparked an 11-5 run that gave the Falcons a 17-14 lead with 2:03 left in the first quarter.
- Grace Leasure banked in a layup early in the second quarter that started a 14-7 run for the Falcons.
- Leasure fueled the run with nine points for the Falcons.
- NNU scored five points in the final 30 seconds of the first half to tie the score 31-31 at halftime.
- The Nighthawks opened the second half with a 16-3 run that gave them a 47-34 lead with four minutes left in the third quarter.
- SPU answered with a 7-0 run to pull within five points of NNU with two minutes left in the third quarter.
- The Nighthawks turned to a 13-6 lead at the start of the third quarter to go up 62-47 with 3:47 left in the game.
- NNU kept its distance from SPU and took the game 72-62.

- Kearns tied NNU's Alle Hueckman with a game-high 17 points while grabbing a team-high eight rebounds and dishing out a team-high four assists for the Falcons.
- Leasure finished with 15 points and four rebounds for SPU.
- Turley scored 13 points and made two 3-pointers for the Falcons.
- The Falcons turned the ball over 25 times, leading to 22 points off turnovers for the Nighthawks.

- Kearns made a season-high seven field goals for the Falcons on Saturday.
