Carroll’s Second-Half Brace Lifts Falcons Over Wildcats

SEATTLE – Natalie Carroll netted two scintillating second half goals for the Seattle Pacific University women's soccer team, helping the Falcons take down Central Washington 3-1 on Saturday afternoon at Interbay Stadium.

FROM THE COACH
"Great performance today," head coach Arby Busey said. "We played really well, and had amazing leadership from our veterans. Got on the board early today and built momentum from that. Conceded a goal in the first half, but got an awesome response in the second half, and scored a couple more goals."

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The Falcons took a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when Andie Buckley played a ball forward to Nora Patterson, who snuck the ball past the keeper with her right foot into the bottom left corner of the goal.

  • The Wildcats leveled the match 1-1 in the 20th minute, when Caitlyn Schrek scored on a goal assisted by Marisa Badillo.

  • The Falcons carried a 1-1 deadlock into halftime despite out-shooting the Wildcats 6-4 in the first period.

  • Carroll put the Falcons back in front in the 49th minute, scoring a sensational goal off a corner kick that curled into the right side of the net.

  • Carroll struck again in the 61st minute, powering a shot from 23-yards out that screamed into the back of the net to extend the lead to 3-1.

  • The SPU defense held firm throughout the second half to help the Falcons earn a 3-1 victory over the Wildcats.

  • The Falcons out-shot the Wildcats 15-7 overall, with eight shots on goal to the Wildcats' six.

  • The Falcons won the corner kick battle 6-3.

  • Carroll led the Falcons with two goals on two shots on goal.

  • Patterson added four shots, three on target, to go with her goal.
