SPU Athletics Weekly Preview: Feb. 16, 2026

SEATTLE – This week in Seattle Pacific University athletics, the men's and women's track & field teams compete at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Indoor Championships, while men's and women's basketball return home for two GNAC games, highlighted by women's basketball senior day on Saturday at 2:00 p.m.

ABOUT THE FALCONS
  • Hannah Chang was the only Falcon that competed at last weekend's Husky Classic in Seattle, tying an SPU Record in the 60-meter hurdles with an 8.53.
    • Chang's time tied Maliea Luquin's SPU record of 8.53, set March 11, 2016, at NCAA indoor preliminaries in Pittsburg, Kansas.
    • It was a new personal best for Chang.
  • The Falcons last competed at the UW Invite on Jan. 30-31.
  • Tawaf Aboudou ran a blistering 6.80 in the 60-meter dash to take second in the event.
    • Teammate Robert Joshua ran a 6.94 to finish fourth in the same race.
  • Aboudou finished fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 47-09.25.
  • Andrew Bell (8.34) and Amare Preau (8.43) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, in the 60-meter hurdles.
  • Joshua ran a 22.27 in the 200-meter dash, finishing eighth overall in the race.
  • Brooke Mosby had a nice performance in the 200-meter dash, finishing in 25.31.
  • Anna Prussian clocked a 5:09.63 in the mile.
    • Teammate Katelyn Flolo wasn't far behind with a 5:11.89 in the same event.
  • Avery Erickson turned in a solid 4:17.09 in the mile.

"Always good to be back home, and in this case, we finish conference play at home with our final three being at Royal Brougham," head coach Keffrey Fazio said. "For us, we have to keep fighting for all GNAC wins we can get and trust our process as we have all season."
 
ABOUT THE FALCONS
  • The Falcons fell in a hard-fought battle with Northwest Nazarene last Thursday, 67-64.
    • The Falcons shot 46.3 percent (25-for-54) from the field while going 9-for-15 (60 percent) from 3-point range.
    • Trace Evans led the Falcons with a team-high 16 points, six rebounds, and one block.
    • Julian Mora was sensational for the Falcons, scoring 10 points with a team-high nine rebounds and a team-high five assists.
    • Connor Drinkwine finished with 13 points while going 4-for-7 from the field, while grabbing four rebounds.
    • Henry Sandberg scored 11 points with four rebounds.
  • Last Saturday belonged to Central Washington, as they knocked off the Falcons 86-60.
    • It was a tough shooting night for the Falcons, as they finished the game 2-for-18 (11.1 percent) from 3-point range.
    • Evans led the Falcons with 10 points.
    • Henry Sandberg had a team-high five assists, while Sebastian Arius dished out four assists.
      • Arius set a new career high in assists with four for the Falcons.
    • David Zachman played eight minutes and scored seven points, while Nirvaan Misra scored five points in 14 minutes.
      • Zachman matched his career high of seven points, tying his performance against Evergreen State on Dec. 18, 2024.
  • The Falcons are allowing opponents the third-lowest points per game in the GNAC at 68.0 per game.
    • Their opponent's field goal percentage of 41.9 percent is the second lowest in the conference.
  • SPU leads the conference in field goal percentage, hitting 49.0 percent of their attempts this season.
    • They rank second in 3-point field percentage, making 39.8 percent of their attempts from distance.
    • McMillan leads the team and ranks seventh in the GNAC in field goal percentage by making 53.3 percent of his attempts.
  • McMillan ranks fourth in the conference in rebounding with 6.6 per game.
  • McMillan leads the conference in assists with 5.5 per game.

  • The Falcons dropped a game to Northwest Nazarene last Thursday.
    • Grace Mertes led the Falcons with 12 points while going 4-for-6 from the floor.
    • Grace Leasure scored 11 points with a 7-for-8 performance from the free throw line.
    • Haylie-Anne Ohta tied for a game-high four steals with NNU's Claire Fischer.
