PORTLAND, Ore. – Whether he's on the track or in the classroom,
Isaac Venable goes the distance.
The Seattle Pacific senior, who already has set personal-bests in three races on the track this spring, made it a classroom three-peat on Tuesday 7when he named to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic men's track and field team.
Venable is one of seven Falcons on the list. A computer science major, he carries a 3.60 grade-point average.

Heading into next week's GNAC Championships in Ellensburg, has set outdoor personal bests in the 1500, 5000 (three times) and the 10,000. During the winter season, Venable ran indoor personal bests in both the 3000 and 5000.
While Venable was SPU's only third-time All-Academic honoree, pole vaulters
Mason Hrcek and
Mikel Saxon each made it for the second time. Both are juniors.
A total of four other Falcons made it for the first time: junior distance runner
Silas Demmert, sophomore distance runner
Nathan Korth, and sophomore sprinters
Justin Brooks and
Robert Joshua. Brooks and Joshua have been part of three school-record relay teams this month: the 4-by-100 on April 11 in Ellensburg, the 4-by-400 on April 3 in Spokane and again last weekend in Azusa, California.
Also in Azusa, Brooks broke his own school record in the 400-meter dash.
.
To make the team, student-athletes must have at least a 3.20 GPA, be a sophomore or older, be in at least their second year at school, and be competing during the current season.
The GNAC meet is set for next Monday and Tuesday, May 4-5, at the Central Washington Recreation Sports Complex.
