During her playing days at Montana State Billings, Bobbi Knudsen always presented a tough challenge to the Falcons. Now, she’s on SPU’s side, beginning her first year as an assistant coach.

Knudsen, 23, starts her coaching career after playing professionally last year in Freiberg, Germany.

As a player, Knudsen was not only one of the best in MSU Billings history, she was one of the best in Great Northwest Athletic Conference history. She owns GNAC records for career assists (532), field goals made (680), field goals attempted (1,617), and minutes played (3,838).

During her senior year in 2013-14, Knudsen averaged 17.2 points and 5.8 assists per game, leading Billings to a 25-8 record and a spot in the NCAA West Region championship game (Sweet 16 for Division II). She was the GNAC Player of the Year, the GNAC Female Athlete of the Year (encompassing all sports), an All-American third-teamer for the third year in a row, and an All-West Region first-team pick for the third straight year.

Knudsen was a star in class, as well, with a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average and three consecutive GNAC All-Academic and CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.

She then took advantage of the opportunity to play with the Eisvogel team in Freiberg. Knudsen started all 28 games, averaging 11.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 2.6 assists in 30.2 minutes.

When she’s not coaching in the gym at SPU, she’s busy in class working toward the final seven credits of her biology degree.
