Randi Richardson, who finished her college playing career at the University of Wyoming in 2011 and was the lead assistant coach for the Arlington High School team that made it to the Class 4A Washington state championship game in March 2013, is heading into her second year as an assistant on the Seattle Pacific coaching staff.
Â
Richardson is a graduate of Arlington High, about 45 miles north of Seattle. After initially playing college ball at the University of San Francisco in 2006-07, she transferred to Wyoming, where she played the final three years and 96 games of her career, starting 93 of them as the Cowgirls' point guard. As a junior and senior, Richardson helped Wyoming reach the Sweet 16 of the Women's NIT, and led the team in assist / turnover ratio all three seasons.
Upon graduating with a bachelor of science in kinesiology and health promotion, Richardson returned home and was named the junior varsity coach at Arlington for 2011-12, then was promoted to lead varsity assistant last season while working toward her teaching certificate. The Eagles won their regional playoff game and first two games at state last winter before falling to Mead of Spokane in the final and winding up with a 22-5 record.
In addition to her success as a player – Richardson was a three-time All-State selection at Arlington, and earned numerous other awards there – she also was a standout academically. She was her class valedictorian at Arlington with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average. While at Wyoming, she was a three-time Mountain West Conference All-Academic selection.
