Dockendorf originally came to SPU in the fall of 2008 as an assistant to head gymnastics coach Laurel Tindall. She stepped back from that position in 2010 to pursue her dream of representing Canada as a pole vaulter at the 2012 Olympics, a lofty goal she nearly achieved.
During the winter of 2010 at a meet in Seattle, she broke the Canadian indoor record by clearing 14 feet, 6 inches (4.42 meters). That bettered the old mark by half an inch.
