Keffrey Fazio has quickly reestablished Seattle Pacific University men's basketball as one of the premier programs in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference, combining championship success on the court with an unwavering commitment to academic excellence and student-athlete development.
After being named interim head coach in May 2023, Fazio earned the permanent position in April 2024 following an impressive start to his tenure. Under his leadership, the Falcons have continued the proud tradition of SPU basketball while building a culture centered on toughness, character, and excellence.
The Falcons followed their GNAC Tournament championship season with another competitive campaign in 2025-26. The team had its first key moment of the season on Nov. 29, when they beat fourth-ranked Point Loma 80-73 inside Royal Brougham Pavilion. The Falcons beat MSU Billings in their final game of the regular season to push their record to 14-12 overall. The victory over the Yellowjackets earned the Falcons a return trip to the GNAC Championships. Seattle Pacific advanced to the conference tournament for the third consecutive season under Fazio, demonstrating the consistency the SPU men’s basketball program has established over the years.
With Fazio at the helm, the Falcons picked up several accolades during the 2025-26 season. Trace Evans entered the season as the GNAC Preseason Player of the Year. He went on to be one of two All-Conference selections for the Falcons. In the classroom, the Falcons placed eight players on the GNAC All-Academic Team. The list included Logan Kinloch, whose 3.97 cumulative GPA was the highest amongst any men’s basketball player in the GNAC. The Falcons earned the GNAC Team Academic Championship with the best GPA of any men’s basketball team in the GNAC.
The 2024-25 season marked a defining moment for the program. Seattle Pacific captured the GNAC Tournament Championship with victories over Alaska Fairbanks, Northwest Nazarene, and Central Washington, earning the program's 30th NCAA Division II Tournament appearance. Three Falcons were named to the GNAC All-Tournament Team, while Mason Landdeck was selected as the tournament's Most Valuable Player.
The Falcons also excelled beyond postseason success. Three players earned All-GNAC honors on the court, while SPU led the conference with seven GNAC All-Academic selections.
In Fazio's first full season leading the program (2023-24), Seattle Pacific finished 17-11 and established one of the toughest home-court advantages in the GNAC with an 11-1 record inside Royal Brougham Pavilion. The Falcons won seven consecutive games during the season, including back-to-back victories over nationally ranked Top 25 opponents, and finished third in the conference standings.
The Falcons also had success in the classroom that season. SPU placed three on the GNAC All-Academic Team, while the group captured the GNAC Team Academic Championship. It was the first under Coach Fazio.
The team's offensive efficiency became one of its defining strengths. Seattle Pacific led the GNAC in both field-goal percentage and three-point field-goal percentage while ranking third in scoring offense. Nationally, the Falcons ranked sixth in field-goal percentage, 11th in points per possession, and 19th in three-point shooting. Shaw Anderson earned First Team All-GNAC honors while also being recognized as a D2CCA All-West Region First Team selection and an NABC All-District First Team honoree.
Fazio joined Seattle Pacific before the 2019-20 season as an assistant coach and immediately helped the Falcons to one of the finest seasons in program history. SPU finished 22-7 overall, claimed the GNAC regular-season championship with an 18-2 conference record, and appeared poised for a deep NCAA Tournament run before the tournament was canceled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the abbreviated 2021 spring season, the Falcons again demonstrated their championship caliber, compiling a 12-3 record despite pandemic restrictions that eliminated conference play and prevented the team from attending the NCAA Tournament, for which the Falcons qualified.
Before arriving at SPU, Fazio spent 10 years at West Seattle High School, including six seasons as head coach after serving as an assistant under Seattle basketball royalty, Donald Watts. He transformed the Wildcats into one of Washington's premier high school programs, compiling a 92-54 record while earning Metro League Coach of the Year honors in both 2017 and 2018 and being named NFHS State Coach of the Year in 2017. Under his leadership, West Seattle achieved the best finish in school history by placing third at the 2017 WIAA State Tournament and qualified for district postseason play six consecutive seasons. The Wildcats then returned to the State Tournament again in 2019.
A respected leader throughout Washington basketball, Fazio has more than two decades of coaching experience that includes stops at Kennedy Catholic High School and Decatur High School. He has also served as Executive Board Secretary for the Washington Interscholastic Basketball Coaches Association (WIBCA), chaired the WIBCA All-State Games, advised the Baden Scholarship program, and coordinated the Seattle-area WIBCA College Combine. Currently, Fazio holds the position of collegiate Ad Hoc to the WIBCA Northwest D1 College Showcase.
A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School, Fazio earned his Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Washington in 2013. Then completed his Master's Degree from Concordia-Irvine University in Athletic Leadership.
Keffrey and his wife, Janelle, live in Brown’s Point-Northeast Tacoma, WA, with their son Jones, dog Enzo, and cats Atticus and Calliope.
